Welcome “Trainees make good progress and the Consortium’s training is such that trainees become good and very good teachers who remain in the profession and continue to make progress.” - Ofsted
Thames Primary Consortium is one of the country’s leading school-centered initial teacher training programmes (SCITT). The course offers a high quality postgraduate training, leading to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). The 38 week long course combines practical school experience with professional training and trains teachers who can work across the whole of the primary phase of education.
The Consortium comprises 26 primary schools in Essex that lie within a reasonable distance of the Fenchurch Street to Southend railway line and on the north bank of the River Thames - mainly in Basildon, Benfleet and Southend – and which include many outstanding Ofsted schools.
The success of Thames Primary Consortium is evidence by our extremely high retention rate and the fact that nearly all of our students go on to have long-term teaching careers.
